10/17/07: SIRIUS ASTROLOGY GROUP MEETING

Announcements:
Some of the Astrologers in S. Florida want to establish Florida as THE place for Astrology. The discussion is to have a website, ex: FloridaAstrology.com, lising events and major developments, speakers, etc. Some of the S Florida folk want to come up and attend Avalon. We need someone to do the website, there is someone in Miami who might want to do it, but we need volunteer effort. The object is to unify organizations, astrologers, and major schools.

Susan created a presentation as a teaching tool. Subject: Neptune. She showed the Rings and gave us some astronomical and physical details of the planet and the history of our knowledge of the planet. It has 13 known moons, and a source of energy within, giving off more energy than it gets from the sun. It has a 16 hour day, and an orbit of 165 years.
Then she shared some details of the mythic character of the god Neptune, the Greek god of waters and oceans. The Romans also called him a god of horses. During the talk she showed us some of the beautiful classical art done of Neptune.
Astrologically, Neptune rules Pisces, esoterically Cancer. She spoke of the nebulous, misty character of the planets. Because it takes so long to go thru each sign, the house position is considered more important in a chart.
She shared the views of different astrologers.
Neptune symbolizes the final and conclusive reality - Hand.
Then Susan showed us the components of the symbol of Neptune: the crescent and the cross. Crescent - receptivity & Cross - reality.
Also rules glamour, theatre, film, etc…
Then she traced Neptune in the Houses.
FIRST
The house of the Self, it takes longer to figure out who you are, because the Self is nebulous. Katarina, who has a horse, has Neptune on her ASC. Also the First has to do with environment and she grew up in a Neptunian environment. Also Neptune as spiritual, she has lived in ashrams. She thinks that people have a hard time understanding Neptune in the first, because it is so hard to see who they really are.
First house - looking thru a fog to try to see the person. A filmy veil over them. They can be chameleon-like, be many different people, by moving into different roles or environments. Neptune the Greek god was a god of shape shifting. Easy to blend in. Marilyn Monroe was judged to be very first house Neptunian.
SECOND
Gina was our second house Neptune. She feels she has control of her money. She makes money teaching art, doing healing work, doing astrology, and she doesn't worry about money. She has a spiritual attitude towards money. Some folk are not comfortable with this position, and even scared of misfortune in personal possessions due to it. Katarina advised that aspects to Neptune were important. Desi Arnaz was considered as a famous individual who reinvented television.
THIRD
Here, it can be mentally scatterring, difficulties with siblings, also many folk with Neptune in third are inclined to smaller spiritual groups, such as the alternative religions. We looked at Samuel Clemen's chart as an example.
FOURTH
Difficulties in family life, parents as alcoholics, images and illusions of family.
FIFTH
Artistry, creativity, children, to heighten artistry, create artistic genius. Many female actors have 5th house Neptune. Romantic dissapointment. Children. Angelina Jolie was looked at as having a creating a Neptunian family by integrating her adopted children from different cultures.
SIXTH
Self improvement, health, labor, Neptune here is a good indicator to stay away from alchohol and drugs; also nebulous and difficult to diagnose disease. Gina has Neptune transiting sixth house, and she says it has manifested in her study of subtle energy healing. Katarina advised paying a lot of attention to diet with Neptune in 6. George Lucas was looked at, he works in a field of illusion.
SEVENTH
David says that his 7th house Neptune makes him see people in mythic terms, rather than seeing hard reality. He idealizes anyone with whom he has a close association. He says he is tolerant of people's weaknesses because he doesn't see it as the real them. He feels he masquerades as a push-over. Gina says that Neptunians very much avoid conflict. Katarina mentions the tendency to project your ideals onto others. 7th house Neptune can also be a rescuer, a caretaker. David, however, says he is very discriminating about being a caretaker, and is not someone who gives a lot to charity. He also doesn't take very much, he says.
EIGHTH
Deep psyche, transformation - Francis has Neptune in her natal eighth house, and she was not in charge of her husband's finances. However it all came out well for her. Also inheritances, material and psychic. Deep mysteries, death, the unseen hidden inheritance of other, the family pattern of secrets that can be inherited.
NINTH
Publishing, travel, history, religious philosophy. Promoting a different vision, a new perspective on our existence. Joseph Campbell took Jungian archetypes and took it to a philosophy of life.
TENTH
Perhaps someone involved in the arts, or being confused about what they want to do professionally. Or perhaps a profession at sea, or in brewing, etc. A religious authority, such as Pope John Paul II
ELEVENTH
Teamwork, how do you see the world at large. Neptune in this house can make the world a better place, idealize the world.
TWELFTH
Katarina says that people with psychic abilities often have Neptune in 12th. Susan said that David says that 12th is where we see our ultimate responsibilities, whether or not we face those responsibilities. Where people feel guilty about things. David spoke of 12th house and Neptune: Diurnally, 12 house is 1st house. Sun rises here. The baby's primal impulses of life, to feel that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing and that you are what you are. Are you doing what life intended for you to do? 12th House as the Higher Self Mission, where you FEEL the need from deep within to do what you are meant to do. House of Natural Law. The instict to be obedient to the natural law of what is right for you. Neptune is the outermost planet of our awareness. It is what we live for. Neptune is the anti-depressant. When Neptune is dead, you suffer from depression. Neptune in the 12 means that the person will have a deep unfillable emptiness within. A deep deep longing for the ultimate oneness with the natural Force, where they are in perfect communion with the Tao. They long for a sense of mission. So they are unhappy, because they can spend a lot of time and energy looking for that mission. Neptune is the Attraction to the Dream of your Soul. Often the Mission is invisible, like monks who spend their lives in prayer. Katarina also noted mental illness, Gina noted shamanism, soul retreival. David noted that sometimes very simple things are good solutions, however the 12 house Neptune will go to extremes and ignore the simple solutions, because they are looking for that spiritual connection.
