1/18/07: SIRIUS ASTROLOGY GROUP MEETING

Note: Thank you to Katarina for providing updates to the meeting notes to correct some minor inaccuracies and typos.

January 18, 2007: Sirius meeting resumed at 7:15pm

We discussed how we can attract attendees to attend the meetings. Our first few meetings were attended with at least 10 people or so. Now we are down to 4-6 people. We talked about several scenarios and pros and cons of each of the scenarios. We came up with continuing the format that we have now, with a few modifications. The format will be:

  1. Someone gives a 15 minutes lecture or presentation on any subject that they are interested in. This lecture does not have to be related to the specific topic of the night. We do not have a volunteer for this yet for February; if you would like to volunteer for this, please e-mail Fei or Gary.
  2. There will also be a short presentation by someone on the evening's theme; this will be a presentation based on research on the evening's theme. The people giving these presentations will be selected from those of us who volunteer to do this.
  3. Discussion of the evening's theme. Because we finished the houses analysis, everyone agreed to continue with the planets. We will discuss one planet each meeting in relationship with the signs, etc. and relate the ideas to the attendees' charts. For example, we will discuss the Sun in our February meeting. Gary will do research about the Sun and he will share this research next meeting.

We also talked about having to donate $1 per meeting. This way we can accumulate some funds to be able to invite professional astrologers that are visiting in the area. Frances lead and happily donated to this cause followed by Katarina, Gary, Stuart, and Fei.

Tonight we started the Theme format and it worked out well. It was fun and exciting. Katarina Campagnola gave a 15 minutes lecture on writing a sun sign column. We also worked the Sun, Saturn aspects into this and several houses.

  1. Katarina used whole sign house system and she looked at the rising sign. We used the date, January 18, 2007, 7:52pm in Gainesville, FL.
  2. According to Katarina, always use the whole sign houses so you have the natural order of the signs. Also, when writing about a specific sign, always put that sign on the Asc.You then use the ruler of the sign on the ascendant and look at what sign and house it is in and what aspects it is receiving.
  3. In this chart, with Leo rising, the Sun becomes the ruling planet. The Sun is 27 degrees in the 6th house, about to move into the 7th house. With this, you can talk about the 6th house which is work, colleagues, relationship with co-workers, etc. You can then talk about the 7th house later.
  4. In this chart, Saturn is in Leo in the first house, opposing Neptune conjunct Venus in the seventh house - with this combination, you can write about possible difficulties arising in relationships. Neptune has the tendency to undermined the structures that Saturn represents. Saturn is in detriment in the sign of Leo. With Saturn in the first house, you can expect extra duties and responsibilities that may be demanding. The vitality may also be lower than usual.
  5. If you want to look at finances in the chart, you look at the second and eight house. Work relations and vocational issues relate to the second, sixth and tenth house.
  6. When you work with a sun sign column, look at the houses and its rulers. It is also good to look at aspects, the new moon (if there is), full moon, and eclipses. To write something about having fun or having a good time, look at the 5th house. To write about joint finances for example, look at the 8th house.
  7. The Sun sign columns are written according to the rising signs.
  8. Look at the rulers of the different houses and play with them. See what do in relation to the other planets and houses.
  9. If you write a health column, then you focus on those houses that relate to health, especially the first and sixth and twelfth house. You can relate the ruling planets of those houses to what is going on healthwise with that sign and then recommend different herbs or treatments ruled by the specific planets involved.
  10. The houses are very important in Sun sign astrology, and the ruling planet of the specific house will tell you what is happening in that specific area the house represent. If writing about politics for example, add Saturn's position, the Sun, and Capricorn, etc, for information about the situation. Example, Saturn is opposing Neptune conjunct Venus in this chart. Look at this aspect and apply it to your own chart. - In what house does this aspect fall in your chart. We can analyze the trends in the world according to these important constellations (Saturn opposition Neptune).
  11. We also discussed about the effect of the “opposition”. Is this specific aspect “good or bad”? This aspect brings out the truth. It is consider to be a very important aspect. Opposition from a psychological point of view, it is more like an inner challenge, finding balance, inner values, re-evaluating situations in your life. It also gives you awareness.
  12. We then applied the current chart of the day to some of the attendees natal chart. It was fascinating how accurate it was.
  13. Jupiter: Wherever Jupiter is currently in your chart, you think about what area you want to expand in your life. One of the attendees charts Jupiter position is in the 12th house - spiritual thinking and awareness.
  14. Saturn in Leo in the 11th house - defining your relationship to groups, friends or other social events. Finding other people with mutual interest. It is called the house of acquisition, connected with wealth as it is the second from the tenth.
  15. Transiting Uranus is in the sign of Pisces, transiting the fifth house in some peoples charts. This indicates an unusual creativity. The fifth house is also related to financial situaitons, like the stockmarket or speculative events.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20pm
