June 28, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Attendees: David, Stuart, Sophia, Stephanie, Gina, Susan, Melodye and Katarina.

David began the meeting with an announcement that Robert Corre from NY City could come in the late fall of 2006 to the Avalon Astrology School and speak about the French renaissance astrologer Jean-Baptiste Morin.

He also said that he had been in contact with a Mr. Cretul from the House of Representatives in the State of Florida in regard to regulating astrology. David would like to see astrology regulated so it will become legitimate. By not regulating astrology, the authorities don't have to legitimate it. A certification from ISAR or NCGR should be a minimum requirement to practice astrology, according to David.

The focus on the meeting was on the fifth house. We began with a discussion of various viewpoints of the fifth house.

  • Luck
  • Lottery games
  • Children, but also the inner child and what brings joy.
  • Creative recreation
  • Creative pursuits
  • Personal creative artistic expression – a desire to express, more as a process, it is also related to the eight house of resources
  • Both the fifth and eight are succedent houses, related to resources. For example if you play on the stock market, other people's resources are involved.
  • The fifth house follows the fourth. The fourth is a house related to establishing oneself. The fifth is the creative process coming from having built the inner foundation of the self.
  • Stock market investments and similar investments related to a kind of gambling.
  • The main goal of creativity is the creativity itself. You want to share it, sell it or give it out to the world in other ways.
  • The fifth house mirrors the Leo function and need of expressing oneself.
  • Romance and non committed relationships
  • Pleasure and fun

Geoffrey Cornelius had sent a letter to Fei giving his view of the 5th house, which is:

  • Good fortune, happiness and joy. The fifth is the opposite of the 11th house, called the good daemon, and its opposite house, the fifth is therefore also considered good.
  • Hope and wishes belongs to the 11th, and the 5th reflects the joy and enhances our creativity.
  • Fortune – good, lucky chance and therefore related to gambling. It is connected with play, contest and games, but is not considered to be an overly competitive house.
  • Previously the fifth house was also connected with ambassadors – bringing gifts or being in honor of the guest

After looking at some of the attendee's fifth houses, the discussion branched out to a discussion on the Moon in Cancer and Capricorn, since a few attendees's had that on the cusp of the fifth. Capricorn or Saturn related to the fifth seemed to have a tendency to take creativity or joy as work. If there was a connection between the fifth and the seventh – romance could lead to something more serious, like marriage. Mercury and Venus in the fifth seemed to be a very creative position.
