March 15, 2006 Meeting Minutes

Don Cerow visited the Astro group as guest speaker, giving an introduction to his upcoming weekend seminar on the 25-26th of March.
Don Cerow has been an astrologer for 30 years and is considered to be one of the leading astrologers on the early roots of astrology. Don has been spending a lot of time studying the circle of the zodiac, researching history and mythology on astrology and star watching. Don explained how 6000 years ago, the star constellation Draco held the center of the sky or circle. The heart of the Dragon, Thuban, was the pole star at that time. The constellation of the Dragon resembles the symbol medical doctor's use, and Don meant that this symbol is as old as people have known about the Dragon constellation. There was a cultural tradition that existed 6000 years ago that seems to have been predominant around the globe. Similar information and knowledge have been found in many different places. This knowledge about the stars stopped with Christianity.
Don also talked about the different ages. Pisces was predominant around Christianity. There were many symbolic or real stories around the time of Jesus that seem linked with Pisces. Pisces deals with the subconscious mind and we lost the connection with our inner imagery due to two things according to Don – Christianity and Spherical trigonometry. When the Greeks developed ST the understanding and outlook on the universe changed. There was no need to go out and take a look at the universe anymore, everything happened mathematically instead. Al Biruni – ancient astrologer that lived 1000 A.D. complained that many astrologers during his day couldn't point out stars and constellations; they had lost touch with observing the universe. There was no longer any need to go out and take a look at the stars and constellations. Spherical astronomy changed astrology.
Don talked about how we are at the dawn of the Age of Aquarius and how different the time is now compared to when Pisces was the predominant age. Now we live in a world where information is being shared and available in a totally different way than previously. We have new technology that has changed our perception radically.
Don works with fixed stars in his astrology but uses only half degree max or rather quarter degree in terms of the influence to be important in the chart.
The evening ended with David telling us about Fei's and David's trip to Yugoslavia and the astrological meeting they had participated in at the Balkan conference. A big new group of astrologers (120 of them) are being educated in Yugoslavia at the Astrology School Kepler Institute.
David mentioned about upcoming events with Gizele Terri the 15th-23rd of April on counseling and ethics, and we decided to have the next group meeting at the 12th of April and talk about the 7th house.
