October 19, 2005 Meeting Minutes

Subjects Discussed at the Meeting:
* Defining our goal as a group:
= Learn more astrology
= Speaker invitation
= High quality presentation
= Gary pointed out that the association of the group with Avalon attracted him to attend.
= Deepen our understanding of astrology
= Make our meeting partly structured and partly non structure
= Balance of structure, of clarity
We have concluded that we want to attract more members who are not just professional astrologers but also people who want to learn astrology. Structure of each meeting will be discussed either during our meeting or by e-mail before we met.

He is coming to Florida in March to give a talk with to astrology group in South Florida. He plans to also come to Gainesville and visit us. Avalon is inviting him to give a weekend lecture for students at Avalon's credit. The Avalon weekend seminar that Don will give is open to other people to attend. The weekend seminar fee is $100 for the entire weekend. We also thinking of inviting him to speak for our group in the evening which we will have to come up with some money to pay for his talk that evening.

Astrology Group of North Central Florida
I am sending this to everyone of you for final approval. Please send your comments as to whether you like this name. Once I received everyone's response and this name has been approved by everyone, we can make this final. Otherwise, we can discuss this again at our next meeting. The subheading was suggested by Gary in order to identify where the group is located and we agreed that this is a good idea.
* Meaning of Saturn: we discussed different ideas about what the essential meaning of Saturn is. We reviewed different meanings of Saturn: feat, separation, loss, frustration, maturity, structure, discipline etc. and we shared ideas about what the essence might be. Fred pointed out that people often respond to the demands of Saturn with fear. There is fear of separation and change. Fred said that it represents change causing someone to have fear especially when Saturn squares a planet. David said that he saw Saturn as a knife that cuts things out of our lives; we become focused on essentials. Katarina shared that our higher consciousness likes the structure and focus but our conscious minds often do not.
* 12th House = Our Satrun discussion led us to discuss the 12th house.
= David said he saw guilt related to the 12th house. The 12th house is where the Sun is when it rises and yet we see the 12th house as hidden, which is interesting. David speculated that the 12th house may be a sense of needing to follow a universal law. We discussed how the meaning of the 12th house is of beyond consciou understanding and is hard to verbalize. It is always in their sub conscious. This is the reason why people who has a strong 12th house are prone to guilt and they often internalize this feeling.
= Fred shared that John Wilner said that the 12th house often represents the legacy of the person.
= Gary asked about the 12th house in terms of above (in the world) and below (introverted) the horizon and we discussed this.
* Saturn in the 12th House = never play games and extremely introverted. In extreme cases can be suicidal, self-undoing. A good advice for an individual who has Saturn in the 12 house is get involve with religion.
* Next meeting discussion as discussed at the meeting is the 11th house (ruled by aquarius).
